Chord detector

Live audio chord recognition — the CHORD DETECTOR plate in the left panel, and its screens big under SESSION.

NØISE can listen to your guitar and guess what chord you're playing. It lives in the CHORD DETECTOR plate; a click on its screens shows them big.

Compact CHORD DETECTOR module in the left panel

Compact module

Toggle with CHORD DETECT in the transport bar, or the C key. Appears as a CHORD DETECTOR plate in the left panel, with a LISTENING LED: a detected chord symbol, a confidence percentage, a runner-up ("or …"), and 12 chroma bars (one per pitch class, C through B, spelled in the current key). Blanks to "--" when the input signal is too quiet.

Click its screens to see them big. Since 0.71 a click lifts the reading and the chroma bars onto a wide sheet under SESSION at twice the size, the way the tuner opens. ESC or a click beside the sheet closes it; the plate keeps listening underneath. With a capo on, the detector follows you up by that many frets and still names the shape you play — see Key. Since 0.73 the detector also listens on the stage: CHORD DETECT in PLAY ALONG's footer puts its reading over the road and turns NOW's ring green while you are on the chord.
