Songs & sharing
Website
What this website does with NØISE songs today: browse, open in the app, share.
Note
The song catalogue on this website exists, with an Open in NØISE button that puts a song in the app with one click. This page describes what exists today — not what may come one day.
What exists today
- The catalogue: songs players have shared, as a list or as cards, with search, a filter on kind (existing song, original, backing track, exercise, traditional), style, feel and level, and sorting by newest, most downloaded, best rated or longest.
- A song's page: the chart and the band, plus Open in NØISE, Download .noisesong and Copy link. Open in NØISE is a
noise://link; the app asks first before the song lands in your library, exactly as it does for any link opened from outside. - Sharing: sign in and click Share a song. Drop the
.noisesongfile the app exported, say what kind of song it is and give one line of context. Chord charts only — no lyrics, melodies or tabs; read the content rules first. - Versions: Upload new version replaces the file. Ratings and downloads stay with the song, not the version.
- Rating: signed in, and not your own song.
- Reporting: Report this song for infringing lyrics or melody, a copied arrangement, or spam. The process is described under notice & takedown.
- My songs: your own songs with their status (published, hidden, removed), and per song Unpublish or Republish.
- A public JSON API to read the shared songs.
- An AI assistant can write a song through the MCP server; that song gets its own page with the same Open in NØISE and Download .noisesong buttons.
- The way back from the app (since 0.74): SONGS ONLINE ↗ in the SONGS plate's footer opens this catalogue, the empty library names it, and INFO has a SONGS FROM THE WEBSITE column that says the round trip in the app's own words: on the Mac a click on the site hands the song straight to NØISE; on the iPad it lands in Files, and a tap opens it there; EXPORT in the editor writes one you can share back.
What does not exist
- The website does not copy plain text. That is deliberate: a song's note is free text, and the site refuses to be a place where lyrics end up. You share the chart as a file, as a link, or by opening it in NØISE.
Sharing a song without the website
The direct way works too: send someone the .noisesong file, or the noise:// link from the song's page. A chart as plain text is something you write yourself or get from someone else; IMPORT reads it as a file. See Export and Import.
