Metronome
There's only one metronome — the METRO key in the transport bar, the GRID subdivision/count-in settings, and the VOLUME fader all share it.
There is a single metronome object in NØISE; the METRO key in the transport bar, the GRID module's subdivision and count-in controls, and the VOLUME module's METRO fader all act on the same instance — there's no separate "metronome tool" beyond these.
Turning it on
METRO in the transport bar (M), or the M key.
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| ⏎ | Play from the top / graceful stop the band (2nd press: hard stop) |
| SPACE | Hold the band here / carry on (the clock and the click keep counting) |
| ← | One bar back (playing or held) |
| → | One bar on (playing or held) |
| ↑ | Next section. Songs only |
| ↓ | Previous section (first press: the top of this one). Songs only |
| + | BPM up |
| - | BPM down |
| ⌫ | Mute output |
Sound
Uses General MIDI wood-block sounds: a high wood block accents the downbeat, a low wood block plays the other beats, and a closed hi-hat plays the "and" subdivisions when enabled.
Subdivision and count-in
Both live in the GRID module: QUARTER/EIGHTH subdivision, and the COUNT-IN ON/OFF toggle. The count-in belongs to the band's start: it plays when you start with SPACE, the PLAY key, RETURN or the wizard's START. Switching the click on with M starts the clock at once, without a count-in, and if the click is already running the band joins it on the next bar — no count-in then either. See Transport.
Volume
The METRO fader lives in Volume — range 0–1, default 1.0.
Behaviour
Enabling the metronome while nothing else is playing starts the clock fresh, on the downbeat. Turning it off stops it at once — the graceful stop at the next bar boundary is the band's (drums and JAM), not the click's. SPACE never starts or stops the metronome; it has its own switch. See Transport.
